Myofascial Release is a intuitive form of bodywork. The John Barnes approach to Myofacial release is revolved around treating our fascia the living matrix that surrounds and encompass our entire body, including our cells! The fascia is the continuous living matrix that is just underneath our skin, that has a fluid component that allows freedom of movement. However this fluid component can solidify due to injury, poor posture, repetitive movements, inflammation and or trauma. When the fascia becomes solidified it can exert massive amounts of pressure on our underlying tissue, muscles, nerves and even our cells of as much as 2000lbs per square inch. This pressure creates restrictions, decreased blood flow, pain, a decreased Range of motion and these restrictions can spread to others areas of the body causing further restrictions and pain. MRF techniques focus on sinking into these restrictions layer by layer within the fascia by applying consistent static pressure. Each hold can last anywhere from 3-5min or longer waiting for a release of the fascia one layer at a time.
